Formentera is a small island, characterized by its peaceful atmosphere, where visitors and local inhabitants enjoy a safe and harmonious environment.

Language

Spanish and Catalan, the latter being specific to the Balearic Islands, are the official languages. In addition, it is common to find staff who speak English, German, Italian, and French in most tourist businesses.

Currency

The currency used in Formentera is the euro, as in the rest of Spain. Any sum exceeding €6,011 brought into or taken out of the country must be declared.

Schedules

Typical shop hours are from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00. However, many shops remain open during the lunch break and until midnight. In addition, some establishments are also open on Sundays and public holidays.

Camping and camping

Due to its small size, Formentera has no camping areas. Wild camping is strictly prohibited on the island, as is spending the night in vehicles or sleeping on beaches and in wooded areas.

In all cases, it is necessary to comply with the regulations regarding leash use, muzzles, and other applicable rules. As a general rule, pets are not allowed in bars, restaurants, food shops, beaches, or on public transport, with the exception of guide dogs.
