Port of La Savina
The **Port of La Savina** is the first urban center to keep in mind, as it is the only maritime access route for tourists arriving on the island, making it a point of vital importance. San Francisco Javier (Sant Francesc)
Three kilometers from the port, we find **San Francisco Javier** (Sant Francesc), the most important urban center and considered the capital of the island, as the Town Hall building is located in its main square. Right in front stands the village's iconic church, a temple that in the 18th century was used as a defensive fortress against pirate attacks and today serves as a historical and parish sanctuary.
The Town Hall square hosts the most prominent institutional events and festivities, bringing together residents and tourists in a festive, peaceful, and very welcoming atmosphere. San Francisco is the most visited village during the day thanks to its wide variety of shops, boutiques, and cafes. Particularly noteworthy is its lively pedestrian promenade, where numerous hippie stalls are set up, attracting visitors with crafts and island souvenirs. It is, without a doubt, a must-visit during daylight hours.
San Fernando (Sant Ferran)
Following the main road leaving the port and after passing through Sant Francesc, the next village along the route is **San Fernando** (Sant Ferran), a mandatory stop on the way to La Mola or Es Pujols. It offers a wide variety of terraces, bars, and restaurants where you can have lunch, dinner, or simply enjoy a drink while quietly observing the local atmosphere.
In Sant Ferran, you will find one of the most legendary establishments with the richest historical background on the island: **La Fonda Pepe**. Open to the public since the 1960s, it continues to be visited by anyone wishing to breathe in the authentic and bohemian hippie atmosphere of Formentera's early tourism days, remaining one of the few places that has barely altered its essence over time.
El Pilar de la Mola
Continuing along the main road, the final stop before the edge of the island is **El Pilar de la Mola**, situated on the plateau about 15 kilometers from San Fernando. It is one of the quietest and most relaxed villages in Formentera due to its geographical distance, which translates into a slow-paced rhythm and less commercial crowding.
Its major cultural attraction is the famous **La Mola artisan market**, which is held twice a week attracting a multitude of visitors. In addition, crowning this end of the island is its iconic lighthouse, perched on the edge of impressive cliffs, from where you can witness memorable sunsets and enjoy an absolute sense of peace and isolation.
Es Pujols
This center is accessed both from the port and via San Fernando. As soon as you enter, you can sense that its atmosphere is completely different from the rest of the island, coming especially alive during summer nights. The large concentration of shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, and nightlife venues makes this place the true paradise for active tourism.
The flow of people in **Es Pujols** is continuous both day and night: in the morning, visitors take advantage of its excellent urban beaches and commercial activity, while after sunset, the area fills with festive excitement. Its promenade hosts a bustling nightly artisan market that blends with the characteristic aroma of the Mediterranean Sea.
Es Caló de Sant Agustí
A former haven for fishermen and seafarers, **Es Caló** has established itself as one of the smallest yet most charming and tranquil urban centers in Formentera. Here we can find an excellent selection of apartments, traditional restaurants, and shops located just meters away from some of the most transparent waters on the island, always with the majestic silhouette of the La Mola plateau as a backdrop.
