Formentera Beach Bars & Kioskos 2026:

While there are many beachfront restaurants in Formentera offering great food and views, nothing beats ending the day with a stunning sunset at one of the island’s legendary beach kiosks. Here is our curated route through the best chiringuitos in Formentera.

Chiringuito AMAR

Located in the middle section of Migjorn beach (Km 7.8) and formerly known as Quiosco Lucky, AMAR is situated very close to the Blue Bar Restaurant. To get there, take the main road towards Es Caló and turn right at the Blue Bar exit. After parking at the restaurant, simply walk along the wooden boardwalks heading west (towards Es Cap), and you’ll reach Chiringuito AMAR in just a few minutes.

This beach bar does not take reservations, so arrive early if you want to grab a table for lunch. We think it’s the perfect spot for a midday meal followed by a dip in the crystal-clear waters. They also offer sunbed and umbrella rentals on the beach right in front.

Chiringuito Bocaboca

Located on the beach of Cala Saona, this spot occupies what was previously known as Quiosco den Ribas. To find it, head towards the Es Cap de Barbaria lighthouse and take the right turn toward Hotel Cala Saona. On the left side of the beach (facing the sea), you’ll find Chiringuito Bocaboca perched on the rocks, almost directly over the water.

This is one of our top picks for sunset. You can enjoy a drink at the bar and then walk up the cliffs or stay on the sand to watch the sun sink into the Mediterranean. Cala Saona also offers several other restaurants and sunbed services.

Chiringuito KARAI

Found on the western side of Migjorn beach in the Ca Marí area, this kiosk was formerly known as Kiosko 62. Take the main road toward La Mola and, shortly after leaving San Fernando (Sant Ferran), turn right toward Es Ca Marí. Follow the road almost to the end and turn right toward Hotel Gecko. You can drive right up to the beach, and Karai will be on your right.

This is perhaps the best spot for a “hidden” sunset experience. While you don’t see the sun hit the horizon directly from the water, the setting behind the Es Cap cliffs is magical. It’s one of the wildest spots on the island, surrounded by pine forests and coastal paths. For a lovely dinner under the trees, Restaurant Sa Platgeta is just a short walk away.

There are no sunbed services here, which gives the area a wonderfully rugged and “untouched” feel.

Chiringuito Bartolo

With over 47 years of history, Chiringuito Bartolo is the only one that has remained virtually unchanged for decades. It’s a local favorite. It is the very last beach bar on Migjorn beach before the road climbs up to La Mola. To get there, pass the village of Es Caló and, just before the road starts to wind upwards, turn right toward Hotel Riu Palace La Mola. Park by the hotel and enjoy a scenic walk along the shore to reach the kiosk.

This beach offers sunbed and umbrella rentals.

Our personal recommendation: try their famous burgers or homemade Spanish omelet (tortilla) while watching the sunset over the La Mola cliffs. From Bartolo, you can also take a short coastal walk to reach the stunning Caló des Mort, arguably the most beautiful hidden cove in Formentera.

Note: Bartolo does not take reservations; arrive early to secure a table.

Chiringuito Gitana

Located right on Es Arenals beach, this was formerly Chiringuito La Franja. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a cold drink with your feet literally in the sand.
To get there, take the main road toward La Mola and, just before Es Caló, turn right toward Hotel Restaurante Maysi. Right before the hotel, there is a forest track on the left; follow it to the end to reach the parking area directly in front of Chiringuito Gitana.

Chiringuito Km 11

Also located on Es Arenals beach, this legendary spot was formerly the Pirata Bus kiosk. It’s one of the most famous places for the sunset ritual. As the name suggests, it’s located at Km 11 on the main road to La Mola.

Take the turn-off toward Es Arenals, and you’ll see a dirt track on the right that leads straight to the bar. Alternatively, you can park at Es Arenals beach and walk west along the shore for a few minutes.

While it has changed since its Pirata Bus days, the essence of the place—great music, sunset vibes, and incredible turquoise waters—remains the same. We often call this area “the Ses Illetes of Migjorn” because of its spectacular white sand, but with much easier (and free!) parking.

Chiringuito BRISS

Heading to the Es Pujols area, Chiringuito BRISS (formerly Sa Beuradeta) is located right on the village beach. Park anywhere in Es Pujols and walk to the promenade. At the start of the promenade, you’ll see Fandango Restaurant; take the wooden walkway toward ChezzGerdi, and you’ll find BRISS nestled in the sand halfway through.

It’s a bit of a hidden gem, perfect for a refreshing drink while enjoying the lively atmosphere of Es Pujols beach.

Chiringuito NUU

Finally, at the northern end of Es Pujols beach, you’ll find Chiringuito Nuu (formerly People). You can reach it by walking the entire length of the promenade heading north until the wooden walkways end near Hotel Roca Bella.

Another way to get there is by taking the road toward La Savina and turning right at the Hotel Roca Bella exit. You can park by the hotel and find Nuu right on the beach sand. This spot is perfect if you want a full day of beach life with all amenities nearby.
