Levante beach and area in Formentera
The entire Levante (Northeast) area, from the steep coast of the Natural Park to the open sandy areas that look towards the island of S’Espardell, is made up of endless beaches, wild dunes and coves of white sand and intensely turquoise waters that are very easy to access.
Tanga Beach
Also located at the northern tip of the island, but on the eastern side as its name well indicates, it is one of Formentera's largest and most visited beaches with views of the small island of S'Espardell.
It is an extensive beach and, although it is the area closest to Illetes and therefore quite busy, due to its length it is possible to find quieter and more solitary spots. Naturally, there is no shortage of restaurants, kiosks, and sun lounger and parasol services. Its proximity to Illetas allows you to walk along all the beaches in the north of the island to visit one of Formentera's most beautiful areas in just one day.
To access this beach, you must enter the Illetas area and pay a toll unless you go on foot or in an eco-friendly vehicle such as bicycles or electric vehicles.
You have to reach the Es Molí de Sal Restaurant, and a few meters further there is a turnoff on the path. Going straight leads toward Illetas, but if we take the right turnoff we head directly and effortlessly to Tanga Beach, also located like all these beaches within Ses Salines de Formentera (natural park).
Here, just like on practically all of Formentera's beaches, there are wooden walkways to protect the dune system and facilitate access for people with disabilities.
Sa Roqueta
Small sandy cove located between Es Pujols Beach and Llevant Beach, making it one of the smallest and quietest coves on the island of Formentera.
If we take the road that circles Estany Pudent (Formentera Salt Flats) between the Port of La Savina and the Es Pujols area, we find a well-signed turnoff that leads us to this small and lesser-known cove. It is a highly recommended visit for its cleanliness and for being an uncrowded spot, unlike other Formentera beaches. If we don't want to get lost, we just have to turn at the turnoff right next to the only shop attached to the road on this route.
Ses Canyes Beach
Ses Canyes Beach is a small, quiet coastal corner located very close to the urban center of Es Pujols, heading north toward the Sa Roqueta area. It is a small cove characterized by combining fine sand areas with low rock formations and a very peaceful natural environment.
It is the ideal refuge for bathers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of major tourist beaches without straying too far from amenities. Being protected from the wind by small rocky formations, its waters are usually very calm and crystal-clear, making it an excellent place for relaxing or shallow-water snorkeling.
Access is relatively simple on foot from Es Pujols following coastal paths or making a brief stop if traveling along the secondary roads of the northern area. As an unspoiled, small cove, it does not feature massive sun lounger or beach bar services right on the sand, preserving its intimate and natural charm.
Es Pujols Beach
Magnificent beach located in the tourist area of Es Pujols, where we can find all amenities: accommodations, shopping, restaurants, water sports, and much more. It is one of the only beaches in Formentera that is directly connected to an urban area, as well as being the liveliest tourist hub on the island.
It is separated from the residential area by a pedestrian promenade where traditional hippie souvenir stalls are set up at sunset. Es Pujols Beach consists of sandy stretches alternating with low rock stretches where traditional fisherman huts stand, used to store their boats.
In front of the beach, small islets can be seen offering beautiful views. It is a calm beach for the enjoyment of the whole family. There is also a ramp and an adapted chair for swimming by people with reduced mobility, in addition to catamaran rentals and all kinds of services for practicing water sports. It is undoubtedly one of the best-known beaches, as until very recently one of Formentera's famous Flower Power parties was celebrated right on the sand.
